DHCP is an application and an application-layer protocol that together enables administrator to dynamically allocate IP addresses from a pool and gives you centralized control over IP addressing and more. However, a static IP address can also be manually assigned to the reference computer at the start of the deployment process.
1. In Server Manager, click Add Roles And Features option.
2. Add Roles and Features wizard option appear, Click Next.
3. On the Installation page, Select Role-based or Feature-Based Installation option then click Next.
4. On the Server Selection page, you can choose to install roles and features on running servers or virtual hard disks. Select a server from the server pool option and then Click Next.
Note: If you select a virtual hard disk option then use the Browse For Virtual Hard Disks dialog box to locate the VHD.
5. On Add Roles and Features Wizard additional features are required to install a role, you will see an additional dialog box. Click on Add Features option.
6. Select DHCP option, then Click Next for the required features to the server installation.
7. Click Next.
8. Click Next to Proceed.
9. Click Install option.
10. Installation progress start.
11. When Setup finishes installing the DHCP Server role the (Post-Deployment Configuration) additional configuration is required for the DHCP server. click the DHCP Configuration link to complete the DHCP configuration.
12. Description page shows the DHCP Administrators and DHCP Users groups will be created in the domain for delegation of DHCP Server administration. Click Next.
13. On the Authorization page, do one of the following to specify the credentials to use to authorize the DHCP server in Active Directory.
If you choose first option use the following user’s credentials, Your current user name is shown in the User Name and you have administrator privileges in the domain that the DHCP server is a member.
If you want to use alternate credentials then you are unable to authorize the server using your current credentials.
If you want to authorize the DHCP server later, select Skip AD Authorization and then click Commit.
14. Click Close to Finish the configuration.
